Designed in New York and handcrafted in Ngaparou (Senegal), at SOFATIE, we start with fabrics that already hold value, textiles shaped by culture, hand-dyed traditions, and communities that have been preserving these techniques for generations. Instead of producing more, we work with what exists, giving each cloth the time and intention it deserves. Each piece is crafted to endure, to be treasured, and to be passed from one generation to the next.

We collaborate closely with makers in Senegal who bring generations of skill, intuition, and cultural memory into each stitch. Our process is intimate and intentional, drafting patterns together, choosing fabrics with care, while reimagining them for modern wearable art. This partnership not only preserves craftsmanship but ensures every Sofatie creation carries the soul of the people and places that shaped it.

Our pieces honor Africa’s rich textile heritage—vibrant Kente from Ghana, symbolic Bogolanfini (Mudcloth) from Mali, indigo-dyed Adire from Nigeria, bold Ankara and Wax Prints, colorful Kitenge from East Africa, timeless Shweshwe from South Africa, and handwoven Aso Oke from the Yoruba tradition.
